WELCOME TO THE PEXA DEPARTMENT
The Performing and Expressive Arts Department is made up of four subjects: Art, Music, Drama, and Photography.
All the staff in the PEXA team work together to encourage and support all pupils. Art and Design perfectly complements the other subjects your child experiences on a daily basis, allowing time to reflect and use their creativity.
In Music we recognise that each student will have had a very different experience at primary which is why classwork is centred on playing instruments and making music in years 7-9 with students developing the skills they need to take part in a series of concerts should they choose to take the music BTEC in year 10 and 11.
In Drama students have the opportunity to use a wide range of techniques including still image, thought tracking, role play, mime, choral speech & movement, and hot seating. Students learn how to use movement and voice to create characters, and to use drama as a way of exploring their feelings about themes, topics and issues in the world.
Year 10 and 11 students have the opportunity to take Photography over a period of two years. Topics covered in year 10 cover all the mastery skills in Photography and also students work through four assessment objectives required to complete for the GSCE.
