TRANSITIONS

CLASS OF 2030

Transition Day: for all our Year 6 students joining in September 2025 is Thursday 3rd of July from 08:30 – 14:45 (Please make sure you accept the invitation on Arbor)

Transition Evening: for Year 6 students (and their parents/carers) joining September 2025:- Thursday 3rd July from 16:30-18:00 – (Headteacher’s welcome speech 17:00)

Each October, we hold our annual Year 7 Parental meetings or “C.A.R.E” evening, as we like to call it.

We invite all Year 7 parents and carers into the school so we can meet and discuss how well your child has settled. We can also let you know how they are progressing in their learning.

This is also an opportunity for you to make us aware of any potential problems, worries or concerns you or your child may have with starting at secondary school. It allows us to put some help, support or strategies in place to help your child settle into school.

We want everyone to feel happy, supported and heard in our school and this meeting allows us the chance to ensure problems are not left unaddressed when we could do something to help.

We look forward to meeting you next October!

If you have any questions or concerns about this process or your child’s needs including; physical, emotional or SEND when starting with us, please contact:

Dear Parent/Carer

Congratulations on being successful in obtaining a place at Stretford High School; we are delighted to extend an invitation to our Transition Day on Thursday 3rd July 2025. Your child will join us to experience a day in the life at Stretford High on this date from 08:30-14:45 where they will meet their form tutors, subject teachers and fellow peers.

The day will start at 08:30 in the school dining room and finish at 14:45.  Students will be placed in their Learning Tutor Group and will work with Learning Tutors throughout the day whilst experiencing a guided tour of the school and various other group activities that will allow the students to bond as a year group.

Students are expected to wear their Primary School uniform throughout the day and must bring or wear trainers on the day as they will take part in some PE activities. Free lunch on the day will be provided. If preferred, students may bring their own packed lunch.

In addition to the Transition day of timetabled lessons, Stretford High School would also like to extend an invitation to you and your child to attend our Induction Evening. This will also fall on the same day, the 3rd July 16:30 onwards. You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s learning tutor and have a look at our School Uniform showcase. The headteacher, Mrs N Doward will address all students and parents/carers at 17:00 in the School’s PEXA theatre.

We hope your child will be very happy at Stretford High School and this experience will support their transition to secondary school positively.

Please complete the attached reply slip and return as soon as possible, to ensure that we can be fully prepared for your child’s arrival.
